In this highly visible role, you will work in a team oriented environment developing and supporting embedded system drivers for Cable and Satellite Settop Boxes. Your contributions will make an impact working with a team of software engineers to develop and support leading edge Set-top Box Technologies for our customers in the areas of HDTV, MPEG2/H.264, PVR, IPSTB, DTV.
Strong communication skills is critical in this role as you will have close communications with the customer and other software and hardware groups within Broadcom. In addition to software development, you will participate in customer conference calls and have direct interaction with the customer. File gnats (issue tracking tool) for customer issues. You will create and adhere to schedules and deliver tasks in a timely manner. Coordinate multiple issues simultaneously. Review customer requirements. Project coordination: plan meetings, communicate with marketing and FAE's.
Meeting: create agenda and meeting notes and follow-up with action items
Communication: - both verbally and in writing
Technical: Very proficient in all aspect of STB systems (More SW oriented)
Tools: Issue tracking tools , ClearCase, Integrated Development Environment.
Job Requirements : Prefer BSCS or BSEE or equivalent required (MS a +) with at least 5 years of related experience.
Must have working knowledge of C or C++ in a real time embedded processor environment.
Working knowledge of the MIPS processor and assembly language is a plus.
Must have experience working with Linux or another real-time operating system.
Should have experience with settop box applications, middleware, and driver software design.
Experience with MPEG2 HD/SD, or MPEG-4 video/audio is a plus.
