Navigation Software Development Engineer (GPS)

Products that include Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation functionality are emerging as a consumer favorite, with the technology being integrated into mobile phones, personal navigation devices (PNDs), and other mobile devices.

GPS systems use faint radio signals from orbiting satellites to determine precise ground locations, enabling advanced navigation and location-based services in next-generation mobile products. In addition, GPS receivers can provide vital location information for emergency personnel. GPS solutions based on Broadcom technology are shipping today in mobile phones and PND products from the leading device makers with future products positioned to leverage Broadcom's deep portfolio of complementary mobile technology products.

Develop and implement GPS Navigation software for vehicle and pedestrian navigation.
Perform analysis of GPS data collected in severe multipath environments:
-Identify causes of position and velocity errors
-Design algorithms to improve performance.
-Demonstrate algorithms by post-processing the GPS measurement files as-if in real time
Job Requirements : • Typically requires a BSEE degree and 9 years of experience, an MSEE degree and 6 years of experience or a PhD and 3 years of experience
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in GPS algorithm development, especially navigation algorithms
• Good programming skills in Matlab and C/C++
• Strong communication skills
• Strong documentation skills (supply examples of presentations, technical articles, tech notes, or similar)
• Excellent work ethic, dependable, high attention to detail and capable of working with a minimum if supervision
• Must be a flexible self-starter who can ramp up with new technologies quickly
• High level of initiative, ability to work independently and to solve intractable problems - must be able to demonstrate this ability from previous accomplishments and/or references and testimonials
• Imaginative, motivated, and able to work effectively under pressure
• Strong logical and creative problem-solving skills, and excellent analytical skills
• Signal processing background is desirable
