Position Overview
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly-dynamic Power Management Design Verification team within Broadcom Corporation. This position involves power management, battery management and audio (PMU) chip level verification. The PMU integrates complex mixed-signal design that includes audio amplifiers, multi-mode switching buck regulators, boost regulators, LDOs, battery chargers for Li-ion battery, fuel gauge, and ADC converter with complex system usage models.
As a Senior Design Verification Engineer, you will be involved in new products definition, development and verification for state-of-the-art cell phone and wireless handset power management unit (PMU) integrated circuits. Products include audio amplifiers, highly integrated power management units, multi-function switchers, linear regulators, and battery management devices for Industry leading cell phone and handhelds customers. You will evaluate and characterize these new products (ICs) to ensure that they meet Broadcom's high-quality standards (testing being done at chip level and system level). Verification activity includes also performance device usage model testing to make sure they function as expected, verify many combinations of chip usage by end customers. You will have to document your lab works and write test reports being shared to customers. As a Senior Design Verification Engineer, you will have to provide support to customers during actual phone bring up and testing. You will be working with design team to investigate the bugs and jointly propose fixes (HW or SW). You will also be working with HW Platform and SW teams to investigate any PMU issues at system level. You may be required to supervise junior engineers and interns.

Responsibilities:
• Conduct chip and usage model testing for new PMU chips on Evaluation board and custom specific phone platforms
• PMU chip level and system level validation and bring-up
• Support for PMU chip bring-up at platform level including system hardware validation and integration
• Support PMU software and Broadcom internal platform teams during system driver integration and bring-up phases of new chips and phone platforms
• Review PMU application schematics and layouts, review customer’s design and provide feedbacks to customer for implementations
• Conduct chip and system level failure and root cause analysis
• Help team as required to author datasheet, application notes, design notes and other technical articles/user documentations to record applications and product related scientific processes.
• Supervise junior engineers and interns
Job Requirements : • Typically requires a BS degree and 12 years of experience, an MS degree and 9 years of experience or a PhD and 6 years of experience in portable power management semiconductor industry or system level design experience in cell phone/ handheld OEM/ODM industries
• Detailed knowledge of Audio Amplifiers, various Li-ion battery chargers and battery management, LDOs and dc-dc regulators.
• Extensive experience with lab test equipment and power management related test techniques and evaluation
• Extensive knowledge of power management layout techniques and trade offs
• Skills in data analysis and technical reporting
• Must be able to work in highly dynamic environment and be able to manage multiple priorities
• Self starter, team oriented player who require a minimum learning curve
